On August 29, SteelOrbis reported high-carbon ferrochrome (6-8 percent carbon, 60-65 percent chromium, and less than 2 percent silicon) trading at $3,085-3,217/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. While the price range showed a nominal increase of $21/mt compared to early August , sources said the small increase reflected tight supply and continued demand in the market.
According to sources, high-carbon ferrochrome in late September is trading at $3,152-3,306/mt in-warehouse Pittsburgh. This updated range reflects an increase of $67/mt from the bottom of the previously reported range and $89/mt from the top of the same range. Sources noted limited trading but attributed the over 2 percent increase in the course of the month to global support and “some continued demand in small spot deals.”
