Scrap prices have continued to climb in Russia, being supported by the limited material availability in the market, buyers’ active stance and still promising sales to Turkey. Exporters from the Baltic region have started the week with a $10/mt (RUB 300/mt) purchase price rise to $336/mt (RUB 24,800/mt) CPT for A3 grade.

Mills from Russia’s Central region, who compete in scrap purchases with exporters from the St. Petersburg area, have set their purchase price for the same scrap grade at $359/mt (RUB 26,500/mt) CPT. “Mills’ prices in the region have increased by RUB 2,000/mt [$27/mt according to the current exchange rate] over just one day,” a source told SteelOrbis.

Prices exclude 20 percent VAT.
