Local Russian scrap purchase prices rebound as month nears end

Domestic scrap purchase prices have rebounded sharply in Russia over the past month as all the mills and Baltic region-based exporters have increased prices, aiming to secure tonnages. The uptrend in Turkey’s import scrap market has triggered a positive mood for exports from Russia. Russian steel producers, in their turn, have increased their purchase prices, aiming to secure their required tonnages amid fears of improving exports. The uptrend in the local market has also been supported by the appreciation of the local currency and the positive mood in the finished steel segments, the flat steel segment in particular, SteelOrbis understands.
