Scrap purchase prices in Russia has continued to decrease in the local currency taking into account improving collection volumes. However, while most mills have revised price levels in accordance with the currency fluctuations, exporters from the Baltic Sea region have dropped their prices by $9/mt (RUB 1,000/mt) over the past week to $290/mt (RUB 22,000/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned. Some of them, however, are still at the higher level for purchases.
In the producers’ segment, mills in the southern region of Russia have shown a clear decrease in scrap purchase prices over the past two weeks. In the meantime, the producers in the central and southern regions have offset the currency fluctuations for now. “Some mills have already corrected their prices downwards: some are still waiting,” a source told SteelOrbis.
