The downtrend seen in import scrap deals to Turkey has been having an expected negative effect on scrap purchase prices of Russian exporters, specifically in Russia’s Baltic region. As compared to the end of January, their levels have decreased by $9/mt (RUB 500/mt) to $313/mt (RUB 23,800/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned. The further trend will depend on the situation in the Turkish market where a certain rebound in import scrap prices may be seen at the end of the month, some sources believe.

Russian producers’ scrap purchase prices have also decreased by the same amount. In the Central region of Russia specifically, the key mills have settled their levels at $356/mt (RUB 27,000/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned.

Prices exclude 20 percent VAT.
