Steel producers in Russia have once again increased their local scrap purchase levels, aiming to secure their needed tonnages, especially now when finished steel demand is recovering. Scrap exporters from Russia, on the contrary, have further decreased their purchase prices, driven by the downturn in import scrap sales to Turkey. However, it has been reported that the Russian exporters who more or less urgently need to buy scrap are in the market to buy at a special price of $346/mt (RUB 25,500/mt) CPT, while the general level has decreased by $7/mt (RUB 500/mt) to $333/mt (RUB 24,500/mt) CPT, SteelOrbis has learned.
