Ex-CIS pig iron offers to Italy decrease

After increasing significantly in previous weeks due to the blockage of the transportation system in Ukraine, ex-CIS pig iron offers to Italy have recently decreased slightly due to low demand.

According to sources, Italian buyers have been reluctant to purchase at higher prices and so their bookings of pig iron from the CIS have generally remained scarce even though they have increased slightly. Basic pig iron offers from the CIS region are now at around $370/mt CFR Italy, i.e., $10-20/mt lower than two weeks ago, but still significantly higher compared to the $290/mt level recorded at the beginning of February.
