Over the past week, trading activity for CIS-based pig iron suppliers’ exports has been slack due to the Orthodox Easter and Labor Day holidays. As many market players have started to return from their holidays as of this week, the volume of ex-CIS pig iron offers to the export markets has increased. As for prices, ex-CIS pig iron quotations have remained stable week on week $330-350/mt FOB, while offers to the US and Italy are at $360-370/mt CFR. Market sources state that ex-CIS pig iron prices are under pressure due to the softening of scrap prices during the past week.
