Brazilian producers remain negotiating rebar for export at $640/mt, FOB conditions, a local exporter told SteelOrbis. The price is stable from last week.
The source mentioned that rebar exports remain destined chiefly to other Latin American countries, where the favorable logistics allow for a price a little higher than international prices. All the 33,000 mt of rebar exported from Brazil in February were destined to South American countries.
In February, ArcelorMittal exported its rebar at $545/mt, Gerdau at $566/mt and Votorantim at $577/mt, all FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in December 2017.
