In the past four weeks, the domestic price of Mexican rebar fell US$10/ mt to reach US$535/mt ex-mill.

The construction sector registered positive growth during the last weeks, even months, although it has been hit by distrust of the builders, corruption and the lag in infrastructure investment, sector sources said.

Prices of long steel could be reactivated, but not enough to declare victory yet; they may end the year with a recovery of 10 percent, no more, financial sources said, who recognized that the Bank of Mexico is considering strategies for halting the loss of parity of the peso against the dollar, but the prognosis is still difficult.
