Most Turkish suppliers mainly have kept their wire rod prices unchanged against the backdrop of rapid currency fluctuations. In addition, general sentiment on the demand side is relatively negative due to the impact of the winter season.
One mill in the Iskenderun region has kept its wire rod prices at $800/mt ex-works for March delivery, while another mill in the region has opened its wire rod sales at $815/mt ex-works today. Limited tonnage is also available for late February delivery. A few buyers are waiting to hear the Turkish central bank’s interest rate announcement due on Thursday, January 20, while a few buyers are purchasing only in line with their daily needs for now.
