Turkish domestic merchant bar prices have decreased by TRY 235-300/mt ($20-27/mt) in the past two weeks amid the negative sentiment both in the import billet and scrap segments, against the backdrop of currency fluctuations. Most merchant bar buyers are monitoring the import scrap segment closely and are trying to observe whether the local merchant bar prices have hit bottom or not.
Most Turkish merchant bar rerollers are offering material for late October-start of November delivery or limited tonnages available from stocks. An Izmir-based mill is currently offering its HEA/HEB (100-200 mm, standard) at $890/mt ex-works.
