Import scrap prices in Turkey contribute to trend of ex-CIS billet offers

CIS billet producers are not planning to cut their offers for foreign markets but on the contrary are focused on keeping their prices firm. Accordingly, ex-CIS billet offers have indicated an increase of $10/mt in the past two weeks to $500-505/mt FOB and some deals have been concluded in the past week at these levels in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Meanwhile, CIS billet offers to Turkey have also moved up by $10/mt over the same period to $510-515/mt CFR as recent import scrap transaction prices have increased in Turkey. However, Turkish buyers are waiting before concluding billet deals at the moment, though it is expected that these new prices will gain acceptance in the coming days and there will be new transactions in the Turkish market.

Weekly price movements of different steel products in major markets can be viewed comparatively in the SteelOrbis Historical Steel Prices section. Market trends can thus be seen more clearly, while desired charts can be created and used in reports or presentations.
