It is observed that demand in the local Turkish billet market is at very low levels. Having failed to decline in parallel with the falling trend seen in import scrap and billet prices, current domestic billet quotations in Turkey are considered to be on the high side, and so price inquiries in the local Turkish billet market is now slow. Meanwhile, the prevailing uncertainty in the market resulting from the record depreciation of the Turkish lira against the US dollar is negatively influencing trading activities. The most recent domestic billet offers heard in Turkey were at $510-520/mt ex-works.
