During the week ending September 27, Chinese domestic semi-finished steel prices have indicated diverse trends, with rising trends in Jinzhong, Shanxi and Tangshan, Hebei, a soft trend in Fuzhou, Fujian, and stable movement in Jiangyin, Jiangsu. Transaction activity in the overall market has been better than in the previous week and is now at low-to-medium levels. Average prices of steel billet and slab in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, the rebound in domestic finished steel prices has generally pushed up semi-finished steel prices in China. In order to make replenishments before the National Day Holiday (October 1-7), buyers have stepped up their purchases. It is thought that semi-finished steel prices will likely move on a stable trend before the holiday.
