Demand has remained moderate in the Turkish coated steel market since last week, while prices have mostly remained stable. "We have seen small corrections in pre-painted coil prices during negotiations, but big discounts are not possible due to strong scrap and hot rolled coil prices in the market," a producer told SteelOrbis. "We think prices will be stable in the short term, of course a +/- $10/mt change is always possible. Stocks are low and raw material prices are strong in the market,” another re-roller said.
In the export market, prices have also not changed and demand is moderate. "We have good demand especially from the European market, but from time to time we have to face lower offers from Asian countries in the EU. Because of the possibility of strong competition, we cannot say demand from the EU will be strong before the end of the year," a producer told SteelOrbis. For now, however, the outlook in the European market is positive and in the short run sources expect business to be good.
