While HRC pricing in Turkey has been relatively stable within the past couple of weeks, the slow business in the coated steel segment, in particular for HDG, has been slowly pushing prices down. The situation in the CRC and PPGI markets is slightly more positive, but better business may be done if discounts are provided. As a result, Turkey’s re-rollers, though mainly maintaining their official prices for coated and CR steel relatively stable, are providing discounts depending on the buyer, particularly in the export markets.
Currently, Turkey’s base HDG prices of 0.5 mm Z100 are at $735-750/mt ex-works, in line with last week, while deals have been done mainly at $730-745/mt ex-works and some buyers are pushing for $10/mt lower. As regards exports, however, sellers’ acceptable official offers for the same material are at $690-720/mt FOB and some of them are ready to give discounts of around $10/mt, the buyers are mainly asking for $660-670/mt FOB, especially in the EU. “Europe is currently a mess with the CBAM uncertainties and no one really knows how to calculate today’s offers or workable prices,” a supplier told SteelOrbis.
In the PPGI segment, the local prices are mainly officially at $850-860/mt ex-works for commercial quality, but the actual workable levels are at around $815-830/mt ex-works depending on the supplier. For exports, the official levels are at $830/mt FOB on average, but the reality is closer to $800/mt FOB.
In the CRC segment, the situation is a bit different since the demand is slightly better locally and allocation is not plentiful, at least from several potential suppliers. Local offers are at $630-640/mt ex-works but $5/mt discounts are quite feasible, while export offers are at $620-640/mt FOB, in line with last week.
