Turkish re-rollers are still facing rather slow demand for coated and CR steel, while maintaining offers in the domestic market with the support of relatively firm HRC prices and high import scrap prices. As regards exports, however, pressure from buyers has been rising and some Turkish sellers have chosen to provide certain discounts. Currently, in the domestic market the material is available for March deliveries, while for export it is available for March-April shipments. The demand situation locally is not foreseen to improve much in the near future, partially due to the approach of Ramadan.
In the HDG segment, most offers for 0.5 mm Z100 material are at $750-765/mt ex-works, but the workable price levels are still assessed at $5/mt lower. As regards exports, however, buyers have remained reluctant to purchase, and, although most offers from Turkish re-rollers are at $690-730/mt FOB, the reality is closer to $680-710/mt FOB. Moreover, sources have reported small deals for ex-Turkey HDG at $670-695/mt FOB, although it is worth mentioning that these levels are available from only some companies.
In the PPGI segment, 0.5 mm Z100 offers in the local market are at $860-885/mt ex-works, while the commercial material is available at $20/mt lower. Export offers from Turkey are at $830-850/mt FOB, but $10/mt lower levels are considered workable.
Local CRC prices in Turkey are at $645-650/mt ex-works base with $5/mt discount applicable, while for exports buyers are asking for low levels. Most CRC offers from Turkey to overseas markets are at $620-640/mt FOB, with levels down to $600-615/mt FOB considered workable, especially in the European market.
In the tin plate segment, the latest base offers in the local market stand at $930-940/mt ex-works with some offers reported down to $910-920/mt ex-works. There are some attempts to increase offers to $950/mt ex-works, but the limited demand might not let that happen. As for exports, Turkey’s tinplate offers are at $780-800/mt FOB for April shipments with the possibility of going down to $750-760/mt FOB levels in certain markets where the competition with China is fierce, SteelOrbis understands.
