When will lower Turkish PPGI prices attract improved demand?

Even though both local and export prices of Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) declined last week, the sluggish demand has failed to improve, while this week's prices have remained stable. However, market players believe that the impact of the lower prices on demand will emerge in both the domestic and export markets in the coming weeks.

Turkish mills' local offers for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are standing at $1,010-1,050/mt, while offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $870-910/mt and prices for RAL 9002 1 mm stand at $790-820/mt. All the offers in question, which have declined by $10/mt since last week, are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.

In the meantime, ex-Turkey PPGI offers are still vary at $850-890/mt FOB, for November production.
