During the week ending August 13, Chinese export offers for flat steel products have seen an overall stable trend. At present, export offers for boron-added 5.75 mm hot rolled coil (HRC) given by Chinese suppliers are at $305-315/mt FOB, while export offers for 1.0 mm cold rolled coil (CRC) given by Chinese suppliers are at $360-380/mt FOB.
During the given week, market insiders think that the successive devaluations of the Chinese currency will positively affect Chinese finished steel exports in the coming period. Most market participants are currently maintaining a wait-and-see stance to observe how flat steel export prices will be impacted by the currency adjustments.
