US domestic plate prices still shifting downward

SteelOrbis has learned that spot market prices for US domestic plate have revised downward in the past seven days, from $31.00 cwt. ($683/mt or $620/nt) ex-mill, to an average of $30.00 cwt. ($661/mt or $600/nt) ex-mill.

Current prices are down substantially from the first week of the year, when the average spot market price range for US domestic plate was heard at $48.50 -$49.50 cwt.  ($1,069-$1,091/mt or $970-$990/nt), ex-Midwest mill. US plate prices are not expected to show signs of recovery before the end of the year, amd may soften further before the clost of 2019.
