During the past week, demand in the local Turkish pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) coil market has remained at low levels, while prices in the market have remained unchanged in the same period. However, the competition between Turkish steel producers has weakened slightly as demand from foreign buyers, especially from buyers in the US and EU, for Turkish coated coil has increased sharply. With demand rising in their export markets, Turkish steel producers are preparing to revise their PPGI quotations upwards, while discounts previously given in the domestic market to boost demand have mostly disappeared.
Turkish mills' local prices for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are at $930-985/mt, while their offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $780-810/mt and prices for 1 mm RAL 9002 are at $670-725/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.
Additionally, Turkish producers' PPGI offer prices for the export markets are still at $750-780/mt FOB.
