Demand has remained active in the Turkish coated steel market and prices have increased for both the local and export markets by $10-50/mt since Tuesday, March 2.
With the recovery in export demand, Turkish re-rollers have mostly sold out their materials until June and have decided to increase their prices further. There is still limited allocation for May production in the market but it is also expected that this volume will be sold out soon. On the export side, demand has been good especially from EU buyers. It is believed that the main reason is the price increases recently announced for the local EU market by ArcelorMittal. The company raised its offers for cold rolled coils (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils by €20/mt across Europe late last week, with its offers for HDG material at €900/mt ex-works for late May deliveries.
"We have good demand and we are expecting to receive better demand, traditionally with the coming of spring. We think we are going to sell out our June material by the end of this month. As usual, we are going to follow the movements in HRC prices, but our main support comes from the demand increase this time," a re-roller told SteelOrbis.
