Demand for steel plate in Turkey has failed to recover and prices have decreased by $10/mt for both local and import products. "Buyers have continued to exert pressure on prices, spot stocks are high and demand is still low. We keep on responding to customers’ requests, but we think further [price] decreases are not possible anymore. We have seen a little recovery in scrap prices," a trader told SteelOrbis.
Erdemir's prices for plate have moved down by $10/mt to $490-500/mt ex-works for S235JR quality and are at $540/mt ex-works for S355 JR quality plates, for September production.
Import offers have also decreased since last week. Bulgaria’s Stomana Industry S.A. is in the market with $520-530/mt CFR for S235JR grade and $560-570/mt CFR for S355JR grade, down by $10/mt for September production. In the shipbuilding plate segment, Macedonia-based Makstil’s price is at €470-480/mt CFR for August-September deliveries, down by €20/mt, SteelOrbis has learned.
And the prices for local trades have decreased by $10/mt, SteelOrbis has learned. The levels are for advance payment and prompt deliveries.
