Activity in Turkey's flat steel spot market has remained slow this week, as weak end-user demand, limited purchasing and continued requests for discounts have kept pressure on traders. The softer trend of local HRC prices has also contributed to the cautious market mood, particularly in the hot rolled sheet segment. While overall HRS levels have moved lower, CRS prices have remained broadly stable, although discounts continue to be available for serious buyers. Market participants expect demand to remain subdued throughout the summer, while any possible recovery in September is still uncertain due to financial constraints and limited purchasing capacity.
For hot rolled sheets, the main spot price range is currently assessed at around $620-645/mt ex-warehouse, down from $630-650/mt ex-warehouse last week. At the same time, lower levels of around $605-610/mt ex-warehouse continue to be heard from sellers looking to conclude prompt sales.
Cold rolled sheet prices have remained unchanged week on week at around $720-750/mt ex-warehouse. However, serious buyers are still reported to be receiving offers at around $700-710/mt ex-warehouse, indicating that sellers remain flexible despite keeping their initial offers stable.
