Demand in the local Turkish coated steel market has remained at low levels over the past week. Buyers have continued to postpone their coated steel orders on weak end-user activity and also due to the market uncertainty, created by Trump’s recent announcements.
The suppliers, however, have sustained their prices for now, although some customers say $20/mt levels below the official offers are also achievable. Since the business activity in the local Turkish coated steel market remains limited and the downturn in the hot rolled coil (HRC) market has continued, particularly in the import segment, market players do not exclude the possibility of some discounts to be provided shortly. In addition, the sentiment remains weak in the local Turkish coated steel market under the threat of potential international sanctions that would influence Turkey’s economy.
Turkish mills’ price offers for coated products for their domestic and export markets, for November production, are presented in the following table.
