After a rather long period of negotiations with Turkish buyers, Ukraine’s Metivest has finally succeeded in selling a large volume of hot rolled coils (HRC). Moreover, the supplier has managed to avoid giving sizeable discounts on its initially announced offer.

Ukraine’s Metinvest has recently sold over 25,000 mt of HRC to Turkey at slightly above $490/mt CFR for March shipments, SteelOrbis has learned. The producer was initially offering $495/mt CFR Turkey, up by around $20/mt over the past month. Along with some solid pricing in Turkey’s HRC market, the supplier was also supported by currently limited allocation from the CIS. It is also worth mentioning that Metivest is still selling small coils for now, but is working to produce big coils at the modernized Ilyich SW in accordance with the buyers’ requirements.
