Slack activity in local Chinese HRC market

During the week ending July 22, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have mostly been stable, while transaction activity has been at low levels. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

As transaction activity slackened after the minor rise in domestic HRC prices in the previous week, certain traders have lowered their HRC offer prices in the past week, also influenced by the declines in HRC futures prices. However, most traders have kept their local prices stable amid strong export activity and the limited volumes of HRC arriving in the domestic market. It is expected that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will mainly just indicate slight fluctuations in the coming week, though some traders may decide to lower their prices.
