While sluggish demand continues to influence the flat steel market trend, Romanian flat steel retailers have decided to raise prices in response to encouraging global developments. In contrast, due to the lack of sufficient business transactions during the week, the sole domestic flat steel producer has preferred to keep their pricing unchanged.
This week, retailers’ prices for hot rolled sheet (HRS) have increased by €20-40/mt to €820-850/mt ex-warehouse, and prices of cold rolled sheet (CRS) have risen to €1,000-1,070/mt ex-warehouse from €990-1,050/mt ex-warehouse.
Meanwhile, prices for domestic origin hot rolled coil and cold rolled coil in Romania have stayed the same as earlier at €695-700/mt ex-works and €820-825/mt ex-works, respectively. Likewise, the mill’s domestic market pricing for the coated segment has remained unchanged week on week with HDG at €990/mt ex-works and PPGI at €1,125-1,170/mt ex-works.
“Prices have not changed this week, but we do not hesitate to offer reductions when there is a serious buyer, and we are still selling from our stocks. Our blast furnace has not yet started operating, but we anticipate it will start soon,” a representative of the sole Romanian producer told SteelOrbis.
