Reference price for Brazilian slab exports stable in four weeks

The reference export price for Brazilian slabs is $485/mt, stable over the last four weeks, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades, remaining at the higher level since July 2025.

According to preliminary numbers by SECEX, the Brazilian slabs exports in December are now pointing to a decline from the 641,500 mt exported in November.

Prices are predicted to stay the same through year-end, as fewer new deals are made during the last two weeks of December, according to a pattern observed in previous years.

Negotiations among Brazilian and US authorities and entrepreneurs, regarding the import tax imposed by the US on Brazilian products, are also reportedly on hold during the period.
