Local hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have dropped by $40/mt over the past week in Turkey, under pressure from low demand and the uncertain market outlook. In the meantime, offers for pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) have remained unchanged for now since stock levels are low.
Export offers for both materials have been stable over the past week since there is silence in demand in the key targeted markets. "We did not revise our export prices because our main export market, the EU, is in its holiday period. Any price update is meaningless for export at the moment. Local demand is still low despite discounts and buyers expect more declines due to lower scrap prices. The market is now in standby mode and we don't expect any major changes at least until September," a producer told SteelOrbis.
