After the corrections recorded in June and earlier in July, prices in the Italian domestic flat steel products market now appear to be stable and no major price movements are expected before the end of the summer, provided no significant developments are heard from China.

Some sources say that a new price increase is possible for the last quarter of the year but buyers prefer not to place large orders amid current uncertainty.

Italian flat producers' domestic prices are unchanged week on week at €380-385/mt ($422-427/mt) for hot rolled coil (HRC), €490-500/mt ($544-555/mt)for cold rolled coil (CRC) and at €450-480/mt ($500-533/mt)for hot dip galvanized (HDG), all ex-works. HDG prices are more volatile because they are not subject to any antidumping duty or investigation.
