During the week ending February 12, average hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have moved up, while activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
Following the long China New Year holiday, HRC futures prices have risen at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), exerting a positive impact on the domestic HRC market, while sentiment in the market is positive. However, demand has not seen any significant improvement as some market participants are still on holiday. It is thought that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will continue to increase in the coming week.
