As of May 21, average hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have risen slightly on week-on-week basis, while activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, domestic HRC softened first but subsequently increased and are now slightly higher compared to one week ago. Inventories in the HRC market have been decreasing gradually, which will provide support for HRC prices. However, supplies arriving in the market are expected to increase in the near future. It is expected that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will fluctuate within a limited range in the coming week.
