During the week ending September 18, average hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Chinese domestic market have decreased, while activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HRC prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, HRC futures prices at Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) have indicated slight fluctuations. Meanwhile, due to the impact of Typhoon Mangkhut over the past weekend, HRC prices in the domestic market have moved downwards. As the Mid-Autumn Day and National Day holidays are approaching, demand is foreseen to be slack. It is expected that HRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will soften in the coming week.
