During the week ending January 18, average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have continued to move down, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, demand has been slack in the local HDG market amid the traditional winter off-season, while some large-scale traders have reduced their offer prices to levels lower than those of small and medium-sized traders, and so their sales have improved somewhat. Meanwhile, inventories in the HDG market have declined, providing some degree of support for prices. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
