During the week ending July 19, average prices in the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market have moved up, though prices have increased slightly for thick specifications, while transaction activity in the market has been at low-to-medium levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, ferrous metals futures prices have moved up while edged down later, affecting HDG market. Currently, state-owned HDG producers have under heavier pressure than private HDG producers as the latter’s costs are higher. While demand in current hot weather is still slack, it is expected that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
