Import plate demand in Turkey is still weak. In the meantime, import plate offers to Turkey from Ukraine have moved up by $5-10/mt over the past two weeks amid increased hot rolled coil (HRC) prices, while Macedonian plate offers to Turkey have remained stable over the same period.

Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukraine-based Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works are standing at $560-565/mt CFR, while another Ukrainian producer Ilyich Iron & Steel Works is offering plate to Turkey at the base price level of $560-565/mt CFR - both for shipments in February. In addition, Macedonia-based Makstil's offers are standing at $740-750/mt CFR Turkey for January deliveries.
