Over the past week, trading activity for hot rolled coil (HRC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has remained weak, as buyers were mostly unwilling to conclude new bookings due to the weather conditions and due to the approach of the Feast of Sacrifice. Indian producers’ HRC offers to the UAE are still at $610-620/mt CFR, Chinese exporters’ quotations are at $610-615/mt CFR and ex-CIS HRC offers are at $590-600/mt CFR. Meanwhile, there have been new price offers from Egypt, Brazil and Saudi Arabia to UAE, which have been heard at $610-630/mt CFR. However, these new offers have not resulted in concluded deals as they were considered to be on the high side as compared to ex-India and ex-CIS HRC quotations. Including new offers, import HRC offers to the UAE have started to range at $590-630/mt CFR.
