Steel distributors in Sao Paulo are negotiating HRC for the domestic market in small volumes at BRL 3,678/mt ($880/mt), delivered to customer, full taxes except IPI conditions, against BRL 3,723/mt two weeks ago. The price refers to the 1008/1012 grades, 3.00mm thickness product, and it is usually entitled to significant discounts in case of large volumes or direct acquisition from the producers.
The last offer of HRC received by Brazilian importers from China was priced at $553/mt, stable over the last four weeks. Such price refers to CFR conditions to ports in the Brazilian south or southeastern coast, having the A36/Q235 grade product as reference.
In October, Brazil imported 30,200 mt of HRC, against 5,900 mt in September. The origins were Russia (24,600 mt at $463/mt), Ukraine (3,100 mt at $505/mt), China (2,100 mt at $597/mt) and South Korea (400 mt at $692/mt), all FOB conditions and different quality grades.
