The reference price for Brazilian hot dipped galvanized (HDG) exports is now $1,150/mt, against $1,200/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference.
In October, Brazil exported 230,600 mt of HDG and imported 28,300 mt of the product, against respectively 10,800 mt and 30,300 mt in September.
The sharp increase in exports reflects 180,900 mt exported by Usiminas to Argentina at $545/mt, FOB conditions, a price not necessarily linked to market conditions. Total exports by Usiminas reached 191,300 mt, followed by CSN (36,500 mt at $1,127/mt), ArcelorMittal (2,700 mt at $957/mt) and traders (100 mt at $1,757/mt). South American countries were the main destination (184,900 mt), followed by the US (36,200 mt at $1,124/mt) and Belgium (9,500 mt at $840/mt).
The imports came chiefly from China (25,100 mt at $976/mt) and South Korea (2,400 mt at $901/mt).
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is currently sold by producers, in medium to large volumes, to end users or distributors, at BRL 6,373/mt ($1,167/mt), against BRL 6,723/mt two weeks ago, ex-works, no taxes included.
