The new prices to be announced by the CIS mills are not expected to indicate much change. After the CIS price announcements, the Turkish flats market may gain some momentum. Meanwhile, as the plate market sees continued strength worldwide, the markets for other flat products still follow calmer trends.

Ukrainian steelmaker Ilyich production hot rolled coils were being offered at $540-545/mt CFR Turkey for June shipments; however, we see that these offers have increased to a range of $545-550/mt CFR. Zaporizhstal, another Ukrainian steelmaker, is offering hot rolled coils at $585/mt CFR Israel for July shipments. Turning to Russia, MMK is offering hot rolled coils at $610-615/mt CNF LO Israel for July shipments.

The plate market is still strong globally. The price of this product is not expected to decline in the coming period. It is even highly possible that we see a slight increase in its price.

Russian steelmaker Severstal is due to announce its new prices for September shipment next week. There is no expectation of a huge decline in the new prices to be announced subsequently by the other CIS producers. Since the awaited announcements will concern prices for August/September shipment, not much fluctuation is expected since Europe will be entering its holiday period, to be followed later by the start of the month of Ramadan.
