A source from a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that Galvalume exports remain negotiated at $1,150/mt FOB conditions, the same reference price for five weeks, adding that he is not aware of Galvalume export deals being recently closed.
A second local source mentioned that recent Brazilian exports of aluminum-zinc coated products were not Galvalume, as the items were not produced by ArcelorMittal or CSN, the only companies licensed by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil.
The reference price for Galvalume in the Brazilian domestic market today is BRL 6,100/mt ($1,643/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, with the AZ-150 grade as reference and sales by distributors in small volumes, a price stable in BRL over the last three weeks. Larger volumes or sales made directly by the producers are usually entitled to substantial reduction of prices.
Pushed by such high domestic prices, Brazil imported in September 21,300 mt of Galvalume from China at $780/mt and 1,300 mt from Australia at $526/mt, both FOB conditions.
