Flat steel prices in Europe continue to move up

During the past two weeks, demand in the European flat steel markets has been on the strong side, while domestic prices in the region have continued their upward movement in the same period. Additionally, due to antidumping duties on imports of hot rolled coil (HRC) from a good number of countries, import HRC supplies are limited, and so the higher prices issued by European producers gain acceptance more easily.

Flat steel prices in Europe have increased by €10/mt over the past two weeks. For now, HRC prices in Europe are at €530-570/mt ($647-695/mt), while cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices are at €600-640/mt ($732-781/mt) and €620-670/mt ($756-817/mt), respectively, all ex-works.
