Mainstream ex-China steel plate offer prices from mills have been heard at $925-950/mt FOB for November shipment as of today, Monday, October 18, moving sideways on average compared to October 11. The reference deal prices have been heard at $925-940/mt FOB to South America and Southeast Asia.
During the given week, local steel plate prices in China have declined slightly amid the fluctuating trend of HRC futures prices and the prevailing bearish sentiments among market players. Downstream users are mostly maintaining a wait-and-see stance as regards the future prospects for the steel plate market.
Average Q235 20 mm steel plate spot prices in China have lost RMB 54/mt ($8.4/mt) week on week, to RMB 5,876/mt ($914/mt) ex-warehouse, according to SteelOrbis’ information.
As of October 18, HRC futures at the Shanghai Futures Exchange are standing at RMB 5,678/mt ($883/mt), decreasing by RMB 155/mt ($24.1/mt) or 2.66 percent since October 11.
