Mainstream ex-China steel plate offer prices from mills have been heard at $490-500/mt FOB for February shipment as of today, Monday, January 27, moving sideways on average as compared to January 20. The reference deal prices have been heard at $485-495/mt FOB to South America, Africa and the Middle East, also remaining unchanged on average compared to January 20.

During the given week, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market have fluctuated within a limited range. As traders have left the market for the Chinese New Year holiday, transaction activities have been quiet. It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week, though likely rebounding after the long holiday.

Average Q235 20 mm steel plate spot prices in China stand at RMB 3,540/mt ($492/mt) ex-warehouse, remaining stable compared to January 20, according to SteelOrbis’ information.

As of January 27, HRC futures at Shanghai Futures Exchange are standing at RMB 3,485/mt ($486/mt), increasing by RMB 13/mt ($1.8/mt) since January 20, while up 0.87 percent compared to the previous trading day, January 24.
