Evraz North America today announced they would be raising plate transaction prices "by a minimum of $2.00 cwt. ($44/mt or $40/nt), ex-mill, effective with all new orders. Sources close to SteelOrbis, however have said that while they don't currently believe that Evraz will be successful in pushing prices upward, they think it may help “stop the bleeding,” and prevent prices from slipping further.

As with last week, the average spot market price for US domestic plate continues to trend at approximately $30.00 cwt. ($661/mt or $600/nt) ex-mill. Prices are down by an average of $19.00 cwt. ($419/mt or $380/nt) since the first week of the year.
