Higher hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices and better demand have supported Turkish re-rollers in their CRC pricing. However, if in the cold-rolled coil (CRC) segment prices have gone up further, active sales mainly to the domestic market have once again led to a significant limitation of volume availability.
According to sources, current CRC prices in the local market in Turkey are at $1,010-1,045/mt ex-works base. As a result, the increase over the past week is $40-45/mt in the official offers. As regards exports, the levels are mainly at $1,000-1,030/mt FOB, while a week ago it was possible to buy from some producers at $960-980/mt FOB at the lowest. “The CRC supply is really tight now since they [mills] have sold big volumes to local buyers within the past 10-15 days or so. Most mills are in April now for CRC,” a source told SteelOrbis. As for imports, last week around 10,000 mt of CRC were sold from India at $930-940/mt CFR Turkey for base specification.
In the coated steel segment, the local offer range for pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) has widened to $1,150-1,200/mt ex-works base, versus $1,160-1,180/mt ex-works valid a week ago. The domestic prices for hot dip galvanized coils are now set at around $1,070-1,120/mt ex-works, depending on the supplier, up by $10-20/mt over the past week.
