The Turkish HRC market has been rather silent particularly in terms of the price movement, while the workable levels for coated and cold rolled steel have declined over the past week following a rather longer period of stability. Flat steel buyers are reluctant to restock with normal volumes for now, especially with coated steel, and so re-rollers have had to provide discounts.
In the HRC segment, Turkey’s local prices are at $545-555/mt ex-works, while export offers are still at $535/mt FOB on average, the same as last week. In the import segment, China has been offering at $485-490/mt CFR for 45,000-50,000 mt lots, down slightly from last week. The most recent deals, according to sources, have been closed at $483-487/mt CFR.
Turkey’s CRC prices have decreased by $10-15/mt in the domestic market to $660-675/mt ex-works levels, but the workable prices for certain industries have been reported at $650/mt ex-works. CRC export offers are at around $630-640/mt FOB.
In the coated steel market, Turkey’s 0.5 mm Z100 HDG offers are at $760-780/mt ex-works in the domestic market, down $10/mt on the upper end, and at $720-730/mt FOB for exports, stable over the past week. In the PPGI segment, according to sources, demand has been quite slow, which has resulted in a decline of $10-15/mt for exports to $890-900/mt FOB and a fall of $50/mt for commercial quality PPGI in the domestic market over the past two weeks to $870-890/mt ex-works.
