Following the ongoing increase in feedstock prices, Pakistani producers of cold rolled (CR) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coils have again revised their offers upwards.
Accordingly, on April 5 prices of cold rolled and HDG coils increased by PKR 3,000/mt ($19/mt) compared to the previous offers voiced on March 22. Meanwhile, the most recent import HRC offers (from Japan, Taiwan and South Korea) have been voiced at above $900/mt CFR Karachi, local re-rollers report. Although Pakistani customers have opted to take a wait-and-see approach for now, new HRC bookings are expected to be concluded in the coming days. “Here, demand is good now. Hence, the new prices will be absorbed by the market soon, unless China changes its stance,” a Pakistan-based source stated.
